Health & Healing - Mind, Body, Spirit
Health is about much more than our physical bodies. We are spiritual beings in a physical body with a mind that is far more powerful than we recognize. When we stop treating the different aspects of our being as separate from each other, and understand them to be one cohesive whole, only then can we achieve true and holistic health.
In our modern world, many of the dis-eases that plague us, are the result of the disconnection we feel with our emotions and our inner world. Our minds are restless and agitated, consequently our bodies hold tension and we experience ailments such as anxiety, depression, burnout, fatigue, digestive problems and countless other symptoms.
On a physical level, we need to be cognizant of what we put in our bodies. There has been extensive research done on the connection between gut health and the various ailments of the mind that is such a big part of the modern lifestyle. So proper nutrition, as any doctor of any background will tell you, is key to achieving balance and ease.
For all healing comes from the one source. And whether there is the application of foods, exercise, medicine, or even the knife; it is to bring the consciousness of the forces within the body that aid in producing themselves, the awareness of creative or God forces. ~ Edgar Cayce
On a deeper level, we have to create awareness and understanding of our spiritual health, which really is the most important. Our modern world for the most part, does not take into account our souls. When we are in connection and alignment with this deeper part of us, we have the ability to then know ourselves as holistic beings, and create the freedom of a healthy body and mind.
So what do you do when you experience ill-health, when your body and mind feel run down and you are out of balance? A good place to start would be to take a step back and look at your life. Look at the different areas, such as relationship, work, family, and see how those are going. If you are experiencing trouble in your physical body, it is very likely that there will be an affected area(s) of your life where your emotions are not balanced or positive. Be willing to look at the big picture and to finding a solution. Meditation is a good practice to find and reflect on the inner workings of yourself.
